We start off the Wednesday evening options with punk rock stalwarts Descendents and Buzzcocks at The Admiral. The Descendents started in the 1970’s and have kept a pretty solid lineup going since the 80’s. The Buzzcocks, of course, are one of the most storied UK punk bands. This version features guitarist Steve Diggle from the original lineup.
Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Judas Priest returns to Omaha for a show at Baxter Arena on Wednesday. The long running legendary British metal band are touring on their latest album, Invincible Shield. Opening the show will be Swedish power metal band Saboton.
Pop artist Jack Kays just released the album Deadbeat!-Disc 1 on Columbia Records. He had the big song “Morbid Mind” a few years back and did some work with Travis Barker of Blink-182. He will bring his show to Reverb Lounge on Wednesday evening.
Indie-emo-punk band Foxing just released a self-titled album, their fifth, and it is a wild ride of emotions and styles that has been getting excellent reviews. They will be at Slowdown on Thursday night with Indian Lakes, who are touring on their album Head Void.
North Carolina rapper MAVI says he was influenced by Prodigy of Mobb Deep and MF Doom. He appeared on Earl Sweatshirt’s Feet of Clay album and released his third album, Shadowbox, in August. I have been listening to him this morning, and it’s hip-hop with substance. MAVI will be at Reverb Lounge on Thursday. Also on the lineup is Pink Siifu, whom I wish I was in town to see. The prolific hip-hop artist is one of the most interesting and innovative current hip-hop artists, and he works with some incredible people. Check out some of his stuff if you haven’t.
Minneapolis jazz-blues act Davina and The Vagabonds will be at The Zoo Bar on Thursday. They have a soulful sound and are just a blast to see live. They are touring on their latest album, Shoot For The Moon, which has a cool cover of Los Lobos “Kiko and the Lavender Moon.”.
