Pretty large Friday night live music lineup
Happy Friday! There is A LOT going on today-also the rest of the weekend. You can look ahead HERE with the weekly calendar. There were close to 25 new concerts announced this past week. You can see them HERE. Looking for new music? You can do that HERE with last week’s albums list, my thoughts on some and the playlist.
The best way to support Omaha Buzz is to flip the free subscription to the paid option. This does not get you anything extra; it just helps me keep this going and offsets the time involved. It is $30 a year or $5 a month. If you do not want to subscribe and get emails and are one of the people that just pop onto the website (and half of you are), you can also support with one of the options below. Thank you, I appreciate it.
Other ways to support if you do not want to subscribe or want to support further. Thank you!
It’s the 30th anniversary of Tripping Daisy’s album I Am an Elastic Firecracker, which featured the hit “I Got a Girl.” You know that song! “I got a girl, I love her dog too.” See! Tim from Tripping Daisy later went on to form the successful band Polyphonic Spree. The 30th Anniversary tour hits the Waiting Room tonight.
The 90-year-old legend, Frankie Valli, became a meme last year because he is 90 years old and performing and not the most animated cat around anymore because he is 90. Some people say that he is being trotted out for money, but if you watch recent interviews with him, he wants to be out there doing it. He is actually working on something new, he recently said. Frankie will be at The Orpheum on Friday with, Felix Cavaliere and The Rascals.
Ringo! Another chance for you to see a Beatle. Bring your kids so they can say they saw one. They can also see some other legends as well. You should see Steve Lukather from Toto up there, Colin Hay from Men at Work, Warren Ham from Kansas, Hamish Stuart from Average White Band, Greg Bissonette, who played on lots of classic albums, and Buck Johnson, who has been a go-to guy for bands like Aerosmith, The Doobie Brothers, and more. Ringo Starr will be at Memorial Park tonight for the FREE show with Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs. Campbell was a member of Tom Petty’s band, The Heartbreakers.
Country rock band Blackberry Smoke is celebrating 25 years this year. There are two “Starrs” on stage in our area tonight. Charlie Starr from Blackberry Smoke is on a new recent single with Jason Isbell and Mark Morton of Lamb of God. Interesting pairing. The band are touring on their latest album from 2024, Be Right Here. They are at The Astro tonight.
Other happenings tonight include Left of the Dial, which is a local tribute to what I feel is the greatest American rock and roll band of all time, The Replacements. That happens at Reverb Lounge tonight. Denver goth act Hex Cassette will be at The Sydney with X-Id, Winnifred, and Worm Friend. I was just tipped off yesterday to long-running Texas musicians Max & Heather Stalling, who will be at Buck’s Bar and Grill tonight. He is influenced by Robert Earl Keen, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zandt and has a substantial catalog. I am considering a pivot in my plans to go see this. Tonight is a Folk House show at Joslyn Castle, and they will have The Rough & Tumble and The Honey Badgers there this evening. Borgore, an Israeli EDM artist, will be at Royal Grove tonight, and more dancing will happen at Slowdown as they celebrate all things “girly pop” with the Uncruel Summer dance party. DJs bvssbratt & Crabrangucci will be playing the tunes.
