Bluegrass artist Sierra Hull hasn’t released any new albums in a while, but her 2020 album 25 Trips featured Molly Tuttle, Ron Block, Mindy Smith and more. That same year she appeared on Sturgill Simpson’s album Cuttin’ Grass. Hull has found her albums produced by such greats in the industry such as Alison Krauss and Bela Fleck. She was discovered at age 11 and has won ten International Bluegrass Music Awards, mostly for Best Mandolin Player. Hull just released a new Christmas song last week called “The First Snowfall”. She will be at Bourbon Theater Wednesday evening.
Ohio metalcore band The Plot In You will be at The Admiral Wednesday night with Currents and Zero 9:36. The band hasn’t released a full album in a few years, but has been giving fans new EP’s this past year.
New York punk band Sorry Mom will be at Reverb Lounge on Wednesday. The band released the album Babyface in 2023 and the new song “But I’m A Quarterback” this year. The bands songs are fun, brash and raw and I bet they are a riot on stage. For their headliner shows through the Midwest they have local drag artists open the show and Wednesday you will find Sonya Luxe and Gemini Luxe on stage.
He calls himself the dark prince of industrial dance and he will be at The Sydney Wednesday night. Kris Baha is Australian born, and I think is resides in Germany now. He has performed with dark wave favorites such as Boy Harsher and Drab Majesty and on Wednesday he will perform with our favorite Jeff in Leather and more
Pamela Z will be part of the Live at the Low End series at the Bemis Center on Thursday evening. These are free shows, but you must sign up on their website. It is always best to go to the artist bio to explain what they have going on. “Pamela Z is a composer/performer and media artist working with voice, live electronic processing, sampled sound, and video. A pioneer of live digital looping techniques, she processes her voice in real time to create dense, complex sonic layers. Her solo works combine experimental extended vocal techniques, operatic bel canto, found objects, text, and sampled concrète sounds. She uses MAX MSP and Isadora software on a MacBook Pro along with custom MIDI controllers that allow her to manipulate sound and image with physical gestures.”
Geordie Kieffer is a modern pop artist who bends genre’s in his music and lyrically he cuts right to the point in some very interesting ways. Basically you are getting in the “Jesus Van” and going to “Taco Bell” with the “Sex Cowboy” and grabbing some “Seafood Sushi BBQ” at the Slowdown on Thursday night.
Organist Matthew Whitaker will be at The Holland Music Club at the Holland Center on Thursday evening. Whitaker has performed with Christian McBride, Jon Batiste, Anderson Paak and more. He is a bandleader, musical director, composer and does film scores. His latest album is On Their Shoulders a tribute to musicians that inspired him.
