Ticket Giveaway, Me On KVNO, Massive Tuesday Night Live Music Lineup
Huge indie act, one of the biggest pop and country acts, song of the summer performer, thrash metal legends, The Reverend! and more.
Happy Tuesday! I hope your week started off well. If you are reading this early, I will be on KVNO this morning at 9 AM talking with Jeff Koterba about exploring around our area, classical music, and other things. Tune in if you can.
We have a jam-packed list of touring artists below, which is pretty wild for a Tuesday in November in our area. We also have a giveaway below for a pair of tickets to an upcoming show. You can plan your week using the weekly calendar HERE. If you need a little new music, want to know what albums came out and see my thoughts on them-you can check out the weekly album list and playlist HERE. If you want to hear me talk about last week's shows, the coming week's shows, and last week's albums, you can do that HERE with the Omaha Buzz Audio Thing.
Ticket Giveaway! We have a pair of tickets to give away to see Windborne’s Music of Queen with the Omaha Symphony on Friday, November 22nd, at The Holland Center. The band will perform the music of Queen in close approximation to the original songs while the Omaha Symphony gives it something extra. Queen are a rock band whose music lends itself to symphonic music more than most, and many symphonies, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, have performed the music of the band. Tickets are available HERE for purchase.
If you would like a chance to win tickets, just comment on this post in the comment section with your favorite Queen song. There may be people not signed up on Substack that cannot comment; if you are unable to comment, you can email an entry to me at marqmannermusic@gmail.com.
Good luck! We will draw a winner on Friday.
Popular indie rock band Modest Mouse will be performing their massive album Good New For People Who Love Bad News and more this evening at Steelhouse Omaha. I am seeing just as many if not more people in my friend circles excited about opening act The Black Heart Procession. BHP had a ten year run starting in the late 90’s and went on a hiatus. They have come back to perform and tour, but it is infrequently and I don’t believe they have put out new music.
Who is more popular than Jelly Roll right now? He is popping up on everyone’s albums, at events, on TV programs, everywhere. He also is selling a whole lot of his own music and is cruising on the success of last years Whitsitt Chapel and this years Beautifully Broken. He will be at CHI Health Center Omaha tonight. Opening is Shaboozey, who I will argue had the most successful song of the summer with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”.
Thrash metal legends Overkill return to Nebraska to play the Bourbon Theater tonight. The band has released twenty album and next year will celebrate 45 year as Overkill. They are touring on 2023’s Scorched album and the band look to be recording it’s 21st album soon, so maybe they are working out a new song or two.
Dogs In A Pile will at Slowdown this evening. You are already familiar with them as you read my interview with the band that I posted last week. You didn’t? Well you can find out everything about the improvisational jam band HERE.
I have never heard of this person before, but checking out some of her singles and it’s good stuff. Funk, soul, pop and disco from the songwriter and guitarist. Check Zinadelphia out, she has a sound that could propel her to much bigger stages soon. They are at Reverb Lounge this evening.
The good Reverend Horton Heat makes another return to Nebraska with a show at Waiting Room tonight. The psychobilly legends have been reissuing a lot of vinyl lately and earlier this year they released a cover of Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades”. Someday I need to post my story on here when a young me picked up Jim to drive him to a show. Maybe next time through town.
