Hip-Hop Legends, Sold Out Show, Almost Sold Out Show, New Wyrmwood Single and More
Friday Night Live Music Lineup
Hello from Pasadena-this will come a little late to you in Omaha as it actually kind on time still in California. Here are the Friday shows.
HERE are the shows that were announced this week and go on-sale today
HERE are the rest of the weekends shows if you want to get ahead. I will be back tomorrow morning and we will get deeper into these.
This is so cool—I wish I could be there to see it.
Omaha Performing Arts Hip-Hop Lab and Culxr House are throwing a block party tonight at Culxr House, featuring legends from hip-hop’s past.
Ed O.G (or Edo. G in some places) emerged from Boston in the ‘80s and ‘90s, but for me, his 2001 album The Truth Hurts is the real classic.
CL Smooth, who, as one half of CL Smooth & Pete Rock, helped define an era. The duo released two solo albums and a reunion EP. And if “They Reminisce Over You” isn’t on your best hip-hop songs of all time list—I don’t know what to tell you.
Mista Lawnge of Black Sheep will also be there, they are responsible for two of the best hip-hop albums of the ‘90s. And again, if “The Choice Is Yours” isn’t on your list of best hip-hop songs...
Also performing are Omaha hip-hop legend Mista Soull, Ivan Alferez, and “The Most Dangerous” DJ Mell Starr.
This is a pay-what-you-want, all-ages event—don’t miss it!
May 16th-Megan Moroney at The Astro-SOLD OUT-Georgia country pop star Megan Moroney is out on tour supporting her 2024 Billboard Top Ten album Am I OK? That was the follow up to her Certified Gold album Lucky. Hear songs from both albums if you were lucky enough to grab tickets. They are going for quite a bit on the secondary market, so be very careful if you go that route.
The Filthy Heathens are a country rock band—but there’s country rock, and then there’s high-octane rock with country roots, and they definitely fall into the latter. There is also southern rock and southern soul in the mix.
Their debut EP dropped just a couple of weeks ago, and while this genre often leans on familiar tropes, this EP has genuine depth and emotion in both its songwriting and playing.
Buck recently posted that there are only a handful of tickets left for tonight’s show, so grab yours in advance!
Chicago punk band The Effigies played their first show 45 years ago, and they’re still going strong. Tonight, they’re heading to Slowdown, joined by area bands Bad Actors, River City Rejects, and Million Dollar Veins.
Tonight at Waiting Room, area band Funk Trek takes the stage for a headlining set. Also on the bill is Wyrmwood, who just released a new single this morning—“Give Myself Away.”
As I listened to it earlier, I thought it had sound from twenty years on. Sure enough, they confirmed they were aiming for a "groovy mid-2000s radio vibe." The track was mixed by Ian Aeillo and mastered by Doug Van Sloun—and it's streaming now.
Tonight’s show also features Secret Formula
