Country singer-songwriter Belles currently resides in Nashville, but her roots are very much Nebraska. She recently signed a publishing and record deal and is out on her second headlining tour, Trust Issues Tour. Belles returns to her hometown of Omaha this evening for a show at Slowdown. I have seen her perform for many years, and caught her first headlining tour last year she brings a lot of energy, engagement and fun songs to the stage.
A new compilation from Speed! Nebraska is reason to celebrate. So we will! Joine some of our areas finest pure rock bands Un-T.I.L., Pagan Athletes, The Broke Loose, Bad Bad Men and Wagon Blasters at Reverb Lounge. Pick up a copy of Speed! Lightning 500 while you are there.
Hank Williams Jr. will be at the Pinnacle Bank Arena tonight. Opening up the show is Paul Cauthen, who has become a real favorite touring act around this area. Hank made his recording debut sixty years ago in 1964 when he put his father's tune, "Long Gone Lonesome Blues," on wax. It was 45 years ago when his big breakout, Family Traditions, hit the racks, and it looks like that is what they are celebrating this evening.
Windborne’s Music of Queen with the Omaha Symphony happens tonight at The Holland Center. The band will perform the music of Queen in close approximation to the original songs while the Omaha Symphony gives it something extra. Queen are a rock band whose music lends itself to symphonic music more than most, and many symphonies, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, have performed the music of the band.
Acoustic Groove still plays around our area, but not with the full on crew. Tonight we get all the heavy hitters John Rogers, Gunnar Guenett, Craig Balderston and Dan Maca. They are also bringing in go-to keyboard player Kevin Lloyd for some extra groove. I can’t think of a better place to see the band than at The Jewell on Capital. If you see me there, say hey!
Other happenings around the area include The Jimmy’s making their second Nebraska stop at The Zoo Bar in Lincoln. Strange Pleasures will bring some groove to Bar 39, Chuck Briseno will bring the Texas red-dirt country to Buck’s, and Pet Rock will lay down the smooth at Bourbon Theater. Touch of Grey will bring the Dead back to the stage at Down Under Lounge, and Tyler Anthony is at Island Bar and Grill. Here is the full lineup!
