This was the most exciting news I could get this week. I almost traveled to Kansas City to see this show a couple of months ago, and I am now glad I did not. Howard Jones and ABC will be at Steelhouse Omaha on February 19th. I saw Howard Jones twenty plus years ago open for Culture Club and The Human League, so I am looking forward to a full set from him. I saw Martin Fry and ABC last year in California, and I think he looks and sounds better than ever. He was suave AF up there and crooned out those hits like it was 1985 still. I am also excited that the legend Richard Blade will be hosting. He is known for his stint as a California KROQ DJ in the 80’s and 90’s and the current main man on Sirius XM 1st Wave station. He introduced young me to so much of the music that I love through his Flashback Favorites CD series. Blade got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this year. Tickets on sale Friday HERE
This is cool. In 2020, Samantha Crain put out her sixth album, A Small Death, which ended up being my introduction to her. The story behind that album is wild—look it up. It was a favorite of mine that year, and I haven’t really seen anything since from the indie folk songwriter. Well, she has a couple new songs that just came out (I am digging them) and a massive tour next year, so it looks like things are happening. You can catch her on June 17th at Reverb Lounge. Tickets are on sale HERE on Friday.
Blues rock band Andy Frasco is a longtime favorite in our area-so much so that they have Omaha’s Kris Lager Band on tour with them. Both will be at Slowdown on March 14th and tickets are on sale now HERE
The Rocket Summer is Bryce Avary, an emo indie power-pop singer-songwriter who has been doing this for a quarter of a century now. Tickets on sale Friday HERE

This is a wild pairing. UK grindcore legends Napalm Death will co-headline a night with sludge metal band The Melvins on May 25th at The Waiting Room Lounge. They will have Dark Sky Burial with them, but what I find most interesting about this lineup is that long-running Australian punk band The Hard On’s are on the lineup. They ditched their singer awhile back, so Jerry A from Poison Idea is doing it. Tickets on sale Friday HERE
We are already starting to fill up those summer months, and it wouldn’t be summer without a Goo Goo Dolls show. This time around they will bring Dashboard Confessional and will perform at The Astro Amphitheater. Tickets for the August 19th show go on sale Friday HERE
Red dirt country mainstays Jason Boland and the Stragglers have been doing this thing since the 90’s. The band has charted six album on the Billboard Country charts and released a new live album this past June. Been a minute since they put out new material, and maybe they will be working some new stuff on the road when they hit the Bourbon Theater on April 3rd. Tickets are on sale HERE on Friday.
Just in case you haven’t followed along. Yes, Nada Surf is the band that did “Popular”, but after that them became known for putting out well crafted indie pop albums to much critical acclaim and a loyal following. I highly recommend digging into their catalog including the new album Moon Mirror, but if you just want to hear “Popular” you will probably get your wish. Tickets on sale Friday HERE for the April 30th show at Waiting Room.

How could Waylon Wyatt not be a country artist. You really have to be with that name.
