A Handful of Under The Radar Shows That You Should Probably Consider-Wednesday and Thursday Live Music Calendar
Not sure how it is only Wednesday, but it is only Wednesday. Here are the shows for Wednesday and Friday in Omaha and Lincoln. A few potential gems here that might not be on your radar. You can start planning your weekend HERE with the weekly calendar. You can start planning April with the April Live Music Preview HERE
There are a few artists touring through the area who are hitting both Omaha and Lincoln. Last night, post rock band Jenny Haniver from Portalnd, Oregon, performed at the Bourbon Theater in Lincoln. Tonight they are at The Sydney with Teetah and Healer. They are an instrumental band, and I have been listening to them this morning, and they bring the goods.
Pianist Bruce Katz has been nominated seven times for Blues Piano Player of the Year by the Blue Music Awards. He has played in bands fronted by Ronnie Earl, Delbert McClinton, and Greg Allman. He has a strong solo career, which has been his main focus this past decade. You can see him perform Wednesday night in Lincoln at the Zoo Bar and in Omaha on Thursday at The B. Bar. Both of those shows are early shows.
Keo and Them are a collective from Witchita, Kansas, featuring Texas born singer-songwriter Keo. The group performs soul music with a classic influence but a modern sound. This is real deal stuff, and it could be one of those shows that you hear about later when people tell you how special it was. I just get that vibe. They are at Culxr House on Thursday, and on Friday, they are at Duffy’s in Lincoln. Give them a listen.
Also on the lineup for Wednesday is Minneapolis musician Anita Velveeta. Anita does indie rock, punk, a little hip-hop influence—you name it. It’s pretty genre-defying stuff, but one thing all of her music has in common is that it is raw and the definition of DIY. She is playing at The Swamp tonight in Lincoln. I would drive to Lincoln to check this out if I wasn’t already on the road. I think this will be a show worth seeing.
In Lincoln, Wednesday night is country star Pam Tillis at the Bourbon Theater. Tillis is, of course, the daughter of country legend Mel Tillis, and she is a Grammy Award winner and has twelve top ten country singles.
Thursday night, Canadian country singer-songwriter Ryan Lindsey will be at Buck’s Bar and Grill in Venice. Lindsey performs country music that has an appeal to a wide audience, but maintains actual country roots and songwriting in his music. I saw that he had a duet from 2021 with Lizzie No, which is interesting as she is getting a lot of eyeballs on her with her 2024 album Halfsies. That might put some new attention on that song.
