April Live Music Preview for Omaha and Lincoln
April 1st-LA LOM-Slowdown-LA LOM are the Los Angeles League of Musicians, they are an instrumental trio that play '“Cumbia Sonidera, 60’s soul ballads and classic romantic boleros that emanated from radios, backyard parties and dance clubs of Los Angeles with the twang of Peruvian Chicha and Bakersfield Country”. I really like their current album, and am really excited for this show. We don’t get a lot of music like this here. Embrace it. Tickets on sale HERE
April 5th-Sam Weber-Benson Theatre-”Sam Weber is a musician known for his distinctive style that blends elements of folk, rock, and Americana. He is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who has gained recognition for his emotive vocals and intricate guitar playing. Weber’s music often features thoughtful lyrics and a blend of contemporary and traditional musical influences, making him a unique figure in the indie music scene”. Get tickets HERE
April 5th-Fall Out Boy at Chi Health Center Omaha Massive pop-punk band Fall Out Boy will do the arena thing on April 5th. The band is touring on their latest album So Much (for) Stardust. You also can’t go wrong with Jimmy Eat World opening up. Tickets on sale HERE
April 5th-Armored Saint at Barnato For over 40 years Armored Saint has been bringing the metal to the masses. Featuring vocalist John Bush (also formerly of Anthrax) the band will bring the loud to the intimate Barnato. Tickets on sale HERE
April 5th-Dustin Arbuckle and the Damnations at B. Bar Kansas City’s Moreland & Arbuckle was a popular blues trio on Alligator Records. That duo called it a day, and now Dustin Arbuckle brings his band The Damnations playing progressive roots music to the B. Bar on April 5th. It’s an early 5:30PM show.
April 6th-Jeremy McComb and Kayla Ray at Buck’s Bar and Grill-Jeremy McComb is a popular songwriter with some Nebraska ties. I personally am very excited to see Kayla Ray again at Buck’s. I went to see her there last year on a recommendation and she ended up being in my Top 20 shows of the 2023 (you can read those here). Kayla Ray is the real deal, and I can’t wait until the 6th. April 7th-John Mellencamp at The Orpheum When he is not sucking on chili dogs or telling stories on stage, John Mellencamp is taking on hecklers. You just don’t know what you are going to get a Mellencamp show these days, and I think that makes it a little more fun. Check out tickets HERE
April 10th-Lil Wayne at Pinnacle Bank Arena-Weezy will be celebrating 30 years since True Story with BG came out and started him on the path to becoming one of hip-hop’s greatest success stories. The influential rapper will head to Pinnacle Bank Arena on April 10th and you can get tickets HERE
April 10th-BATS-at The Sydney-BATS is Nashville singer-songwriter Jess Awh and her 2024 album Good Game Baby has become a favorite of mine this year. Take a listen and then line up on April 10th and buy your tickets at the door.
April 11th-The Driver Era at Steelhouse Omaha-Rocky and Ross Lynch bring Driver Era to Steelhouse Omaha. The rock band just released a live album last year and you can hear all of those songs in person on April 11th. Ross was of course on the Disney show Austin and Ally, so expect some fans of that show to be joining you on the floor. You can grab tickets HERE
April 13th-The Urge at The Waiting Room-SOLD OUT If you grew up in the 90’s in the Midwest you had many opportunities to see The Urge. The St. Louis ska-reggae-rock band was one of the biggest live draws in Omaha for a time. The band are returning for a show that has Sold Out the Waiting Room. Also on the bill is one of Omaha’s biggest acts from that time Blue Moon Ghetto. This will also be the live debut of Mad Mad Hearts in which you will see many Omaha music mainstays on stage. See if your friends have any extra tickets.
April 14th-Twin Tribes and Urban Heat at Reverb Lounge Texas dark-wave band Twin Tribes and Urban Heat will be at Reverb on April 14th. Twin Tribes is very popular in the goth and darkwave world. I saw Urban Heat at Cruel World Festival last year and they were my favorite band of all the “new” artists at the fest. I am very much looking forward to seeing a club show from them. April 16th-The Indigo Girls at The Astro-there are very few acts that I have loved since I was a teenager that I still love just as much today. The Indigo Girls are one of those acts. They are incredible songwriters and incredible live. I cannot wait to see them at The Astro. They have a little extra steam right now with their song “Closer To Fine” playing a role in the blockbuster Barbie movie. You can find tickets HERE
April 18th-Fit For A King-Bourbon Theatre-Metalcore band Fit For A King have been out on the road for over 15 years. The band released a new single in January called “Keeping Secrets”. Joining them at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln will be Chelsea Grin, Kingdom of Giants and Soulkeeper. Tickets are available HERE
April 20th-Rosali-O’Leavers Merge Recording artist Rosali, from North Carolina, continues her tour after a string of dates with Mary Timony. Rosali just put out the new album Bite Down this past week, and she is touring with a lot of Nebraskans in her band. This will be a packed house. This is not a show to sleep on tickets to. April 20th-King Iso at Waiting Room Lounge-It’s 4-20, which means King Iso will be at The Waiting Room with his Illdren Tour. The Omaha based artist has been touring the world and will be currently on tour of America when he stops by home. Joining the popular hip-hop artist will be Lex Bratcher, Taebo Tha Truth, Unconventional Kingz & DJ Doc. Tickets available HERE
April 26th and April 27th-Heartland Havoc Music Festival-Cosmic Eye Brewing-catch a couple of dozen heavy bands on the final weekend of April and get some local craft beer in you while doing it. Tickets for Heartland Havoc Music Festival are available HERE
April 26th-Etienne Charles at Holland Performing Arts Center Etienne Charles is the Assistant Professor of Jazz Trumpet at Michigan State University. He has performed with Monty Alexander, Roberta Flack, Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, Maria Schneider, Count Basie Orchestra and more. You can catch him on the 26th with tickets available HERE.
April 27th-William Elliot Whitmore-Reverb Lounge-Iowa’s William Elliot Whitmore has always been a live favorite in Omaha going back decades now. The folk artist has toured with everyone from Chris Cornell to Clutch. You can catch his always engaging set at Reverb Lounge by grabbing tickets HERE
April 28th-Strung Out and The Casualties at Slowdown-In 1989 punk band Strung Out formed in Simi Valley, California. One year later all the way across the country in New York another punk band The Casualties formed. 35 years later both bands will perform at The Slowdown on the same night with The Venomous Pinks opening the show. April 29th and 30th-Zach Bryan-Chi Health Center Omaha-It’s pretty rare that we get a two-date run at the arena, but Zach Bryan is just that popular. He has been one of our top five selling artists at Homer’s for the past couple years and his brand of country really appeals to a lot of different music fans. Tickets on sale HERE
April 30th-Coco Montoya at The Zoo Bar-Montoya played with blues great Albert Collins and then John Mayall before embarking on a successful solo career. He is one of the favorites on the live blues scene and has been since the mid-90’s. Catch him live at The Zoo Bar.
