Zoo Bar Anniversary Week Continues, Truck Stop Mayhem and A Couple Rising Country Artists In The Area
Tuesday and Wednesday Live Music Calendar
Happy Tuesday or Wednesday—we will be mixing the two days together, as it is a bit of a slow mid-week this week. We are also focused mostly on Lincoln this post, as most of the Omaha venues seem on an extended 4th of July vacation You can check out the very busy weekend HERE with the weekly calendar. If you subscribe below for free, you can have all of this delivered to you. If you are finding value in Omaha Buzz, please consider flipping to a paid subscription or checking out some of the other ways to support what I do. The paid subscription is the best way to help me keep doing this ad-free and open for everyone to get the information. Thank you!

On Tuesday, the Zoo Bar anniversary week continues with Jericho Strays and Tony Meza and El Chupacabra. The Nebraska Hall of Famers and Lincoln music scene institution will bring a night of roots rock with an emphasis on the rock on the legendary stage as the venue gears up for its Zoo Fest celebration this weekend.
Austin alt. country band The Droptines will be making their way to join up a tour with Whiskey Myers and Josh Meloy, and then a stop at Lollapalooza and some dates with Dwight Yoakam. You can catch them first at the intimate Barnato on Wednesday before they head to the big stages for the summer. They are out in support of their debut self-titled albums.
We cover it all on Omaha Buzz, but I am not sure where to go with this, so I will just say that Truck Stop Dick Pill, who are described as Appalachian boner slam from Knoxville, will be at Witches Brew in with Pigstye and Corpseburner on Wednesday. Hear songs like “18 Wheeler Drug Dealer,” “Radiator Fluid Gravity Bong,” and many others that you will have to Google for yourself.
Chicago bluesman John Primer is doing two nights at The Zoo Bar this week for their anniversary week. Primer has been the lead guitarist for Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Magic Slim. You would be hard pressed to find another more authentic blues artist out playing live shows. Primer put out a tribute to Magic Slim, who was a Lincoln, Nebraska, resident later in his life, a few years back. The 80-year-old is not slowing down; he has put out three albums in the last two years, including 2025’s Grown In Mississippi. He will do a show Wednesday night with his band, and on Thursday will also be with his band, but share the lineup with the Mike Zito Trio.
The Rangers from the Chicago area will bring some real-deal honky-tonk to Duffy’s Tavern on Wednesday night. The band are out on tour in support of their third album called Country in a Bottle. Their previous records have a little bit more rock in them, but this one is full-on sticky barroom floor country.
Here is your full lineup for the next couple days.
