Twenty Two Concerts Announced For Omaha and Lincoln

When Wim Wenders released the film of Buena Vista Social Club around twenty-five years ago, many people were exposed to the music of Cuba for the first time. Ry Cooder got the ball rolling on the project and the genre of music has been popular ever since. On August 3rd the Buena Vista Orchestra will bring that music to the Astro Theater. It features Jesús "Aguaje" Ramos of Estrellas de Areito, Buena Vista Social Club and Afro-Cuban All Stars. Tickets are on sale Friday HERE
This is cool. Macy Gray is coming to the Astro Theater on July 26th for the 25th Anniversary of her On How Life Is album. I got a chance to see her open for David Bowie on his final tour, and she was really good. Sadly I will be out of town for this, but you can get tickets HERE on Friday.
English rock band Glass Animals loves you so f’n much, at least that is what their last album told us. The “Heatwaves” singers will hit the stage at Steelhouse Omaha on August 5th. Tickets on sale HERE on Friday.

Country singer-songwriter Dillon Carmichael sold out Barnato last year, and he is coming back to do it again. Dillon has had a few hits with “I Do For You”, “Son Of A” and “Drinkin’ Problems”. Mania is back! The premiere ABBA tribute act from London’s West End returns to Nebraska for a show at Holland Center on October 12th. Tickets are on sale HERE on Friday.

Salt Lake City indie rock band Backseat Lovers have gotten so popular that they are doing double dates now. They will be at The Admiral on May 1st and May 2nd and you can get tickets HERE on Friday for night one and HERE on Friday for night two.

Legendary noise and post rock band Swans return to The Waiting Room on September 28th. Tickets are on sale HERE
They are an American band, but there are some Nebraska roots with Grand Funk Railroad also. In the bands most famous song they mention some…ummm…women from Omaha. Max Carl, who is currently the co-lead singer and rhythm guitarist is from Humphrey, Nebraska and graduated from Norfolk High. Area hip-hop artists King Iso, Taebo The Truth and Snake Lucci are heading out on a big tour with Awax. They stop in Lincoln at the Bourbon Theater on May 10th with tickets on sale HERE on Friday. They also stop at Waiting Room Lounge on May 29th and you can get those tickets HERE on Friday.
Glenn Miller had a pretty short life, but left music that has lasted generations. The Glenn Miller Orchestra has been continuing that legacy since his disappearance in the 1940’s. The orchestra continues to this day and will be at the Holland Center on June 15th with tickets going on sale HERE
Country artist Warren Zeiders keeps growing his fan base. The deluxe version of his latest album came out last week and here comes the tour.
