Country artist Cody Johnson is back on tour, this time supporting the deluxe version of his 2023 album Leather. He has had quite a bit of success in recent years with “The Painter,” “Whiskey Bent,” and “I’m Gonna Love You.”. He will be at Pinnacle Bank Arena on September 13th. Tickets on sale NEXT Friday at Ticketmaster.
This is the show that many of us have been begging for, for many, many years. Massive real deal country artist Tyler Childers will finally play Omaha at the Chi Health Center. Not only that but he is bringing along Medium Build, a songwriter you should check out if you have not yet. This show will sell out, and possibly very quickly. Get on tickets Friday HERE.
Well, this makes me feel old. 89.7 The River is turning thirty years old! I remember when they played classical music. They put together a lineup for their birthday party that has everyone talking. Hometown boys 311 will return and play a show with Sublime. Sublime is now fronted by Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob. I did an interview with him a couple of years ago before he joined Sublime, but it is on the old site. I will have to see if I can dig it up before this show. Also on the lineup are three bands that are very popular in our area, including Sick Puppies and The Urge. Sick Puppies have a new album coming out on March 28th. 89.7 The River has broken a lot of music in our area and beyond, but I am not sure if they broke anyone like they did Blue October, so it is very fitting that they are on the lineup. Omaha band Anchondo gets to open the festival, and I can’t think of anyone more fitting. This will happen on the CB side of the River at River’s Edge Park. Tickets on sale HERE
I am a big Lissie fan; I have seen her in Austin, New Orleans, Sioux City, and Omaha. Sadly, I will be out of town for this one. She doesn’t come through all that often, even though she lives in Iowa (last I knew). Anyway, the singer-songwriter will be at Royal Grove on May 17th, and I highly recommend attending. You can get tickets HERE on Friday.
Remember when the last show was being announced for George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic at Steelhouse Omaha? They said 'the last time in Omaha.'. Well, if we have learned anything about anything, it is that there is no last time, and if we know anything about Dr. Funkenstein, it is that he will hit it or quit it when he damn well feels like it. That last show was a riot, and I have seen him many times. So let’s take one more trip on the mothership. Tickets on sale for the May 24th show at Steelhouse Omaha are available HERE on Friday.
The Red Clay Strays are only two albums in, but they are quickly becoming a big live attraction. The band has gone viral because of online live performances, and the sound has resonated with a lot of people. The band from Mobile, Alabama, will be at The Astro Amphitheater on September 20th. Tickets go on sale Friday HERE.
It’s Weezer! The alt-rock band are back and this time they will be at Stir Cove. The band celebrated 30 years of their Blue Album last year and next year will be 30 years of Pinkerton….and umm five years of Van Weezer. Tickets on sale HERE on Friday
Alt. country band American Aquarium will celebrate two decades next year, and for the last decade, they have been coming through Omaha on the regular. This year they will hit Waiting Room on July 15th. They are out in support of their album The Fear of Standing Still that came out last year. Tickets on sale HERE
AJ Croce is, of course, the son of Jim Croce. He has been putting out his own music for a couple of decades now but also pays tribute to his father with his Croce Plays Croce shows. While this is not one of those and is a tour for his new album Heart of the Eternal that comes out tomorrow, he has said that he will still be playing many of his father's songs on this tour. Tickets for the June 16th show at Holland Center go on sale Friday HERE.
Another son of a well-known singer is Casey Chesnutt, who is the son of Mark Chesnutt. Casey has been releasing a lot of songs over the past decade, and I really like the song “Even Texas Couldn’t Hold Her.”. Check it out. He also did a follow-up to his dad’s hit called “Bubba’s Story” (I Shot the Jukebox)”. He is at Bucks Bar and Grill on April 19th, and you can get tickets HERE.
Hip-hop artist Dave East just released The Final Call a couple of weeks ago with guests ranging from Jay Electronica to Method Man (who Dave portrayed in the TV series Wu-Tang: An American Saga). This follows up three albums from 2024 and so many more before that. I think he is one of the best of the current crop of hip-hop artists. He will be at Bourbon Theater on May 1st, and tickets are on sale HERE
Christian post-hardcore and emo band Emery are celebrating twenty years of their debut album The Question with a world tour that stops at Waiting Room Lounge on July 18th. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday HERE.
Country artist Rob Leines last album was produced by Mike Harmeier of Silverada (Mike and the Moonpies), and his current song is with Silverada, so it is safe to say that if you enjoy them, you may enjoy Rob Leines when he performs at Bucks Bar and Grill on May 9th. Tickets on sale HERE
That reads Dragged Into Sunlight and the UK extreme metal band will make it’s way to Omaha on June 4th with Mizmor, meth., Living Conditions and Amolado. Tickets or the Reverb Lounge show are on sale HERE.
Illinois country artist Joe Stamm will be leaving his band behind and will do an acoustic show at Bucks Bar and Grill on May 15th. Stamm’s performances with his band sell out Buck’s, and I have to assume this will also. Tickets on sale HERE.
They are all coming out of the woodwork for this mu metal revival. The latest batch of bands to come to our area is The Union Underground and Spine Shank. They will bring along Adema, who was here last week, and Sicksense. The co-headlining bands will be doing their popular albums in full at Bourbon Theatre on July 29th. Tickets on sale Friday HERE.
Zac Wilkerson does a soulful country that times borders on the blues. The Texas artist is out on the road with his 2024 album Mud & Sunshine and will be at Bucks Bar and Grill on May 31st. Tickets on sale HERE
Keller Williams returns to Lincoln with ummm…DeadPettyKellerGrass which is him doing himself, Tom Petty and Grateful Dead in a bluegrass style. Makes sense now. Tickets for the June 26th show are on sale HERE on Friday.
Ray Scott had some Billboard country hits with “My Kind Of Music” and “Gone Either Way”. The country music traditionalist also has a lot of fans of his song “Those Jeans”. He will be at Bucks Bar and Grill on June 12th. Tickets are on sale HERE.
The Damn Quails are a folk, Americana, country band who put out a fantastic album in 2011 called Down The Hatch. They ended up in some record industry legal craziness that kind of slowed their roll, but they continue to this day and are returning to Bucks Bar and Grill on June 20th. Tickets on sale HERE
