Tons Of Porchfest Info For Today and Touring Acts Rolling Through This Evening
Sunday Music Lineup
Happy Sunday! Usually I combine Saturday and Sunday, but there is so much happening today that I kept Sunday all alone. There is a lot of Porchfest below, but there are other happenings I talk about after down below. Have a great day.
Today is the 8th annual Porchfest happening in the Gifford Park area. This event is one of my favorite events of the year (even though I cannot attend today), as you can see so many of our area's finest songwriters in one afternoon in unique settings. It’s also a fantastic time to catch up with other area music fans you know (just don’t do that while the artists are playing). There are twelve stages, and ten of them are on people’s porches. There is also the Market Stage, where they usually have the Gifford Park Farmers Market and the Omaha Mobile Stage. One of the porches will be poetry, and one of the porches will be visual art. One of the porches will be a rapid-fire open mic stage with many performers.
I have included the schedule for the featured performers, the open mic schedule. the poetry schedule and the map. They will probably have all of this printed out, but you can use this on your phone.
Every year has a great lineup, and there are always new artists to find, which is one of the points of this event. This year has some long running and well known artists such as McCarthy Trenching, Kris Lager, Matt Cox & The Marauders, Scott Severin & Stateleigh Holmes, Jeremy Mercy, Aly Peeler, Jocelyn, The Mudpuddles, B.B. Sledge, Mitch Gettman, Adam Houghtelling, Tom Bartolomei, Midwest Dilemma, and there is so much more.
There is also a vendor market, kids areas, food trucks, and a beer garden. I also saw something about goats. My pro-tip is to bring a bicycle and roll up to each of the stages, even though it looks like perfect fall walking weather today. They will have pedicabs that people can hop on also. Have a blast!

Nashville folk band Judah and The Lion are at Steelhouse Omaha this evening. Now a duo, they released their first album, Kids These Days, ten years ago. They have released four albums since, including their current album, The Process. The band held a contest to find an area band to open for them, and Feel Good is the Omaha choice.
BJ Barham and his popular and prolific country band American Aquarium return to Omaha tonight for a show at Waiting Room Lounge. They are touring on their latest album, The Fear of Standing Still, which came out in July. Opening the show is the wonderful Abby Hamilton, who I saw last year at Slowdown, and she was amazing. I will be popping in for her set tonight for sure, and I would highly recommend you arrive early if you are attending.
