Possible Sleeper Show, St. Patrick's Saturday, Koo Koo, Tribute Band Weekend
Saturday and Sunday Live Music Lineup
Happy Weekend! This is a weird one, as there is a lot going on this weekend, but not much to actually write about individually. Being the weekend for St. Patrick's Day, the bars are full of cover bands, party bands, tribute bands, and Irish music. A couple of events that were scheduled to tour through town, such as Low Down Drifters at Bucks and Murphy’s Celtic Legacy at the Lied Center, are no longer happening. However, there is still a show at Bucks with Jake Stringer. Below are a few standout shows, but be sure to dig into the calendar if you’re looking to get out this weekend, as there is a ton of stuff happening.
One of the wonderful things about doing Omaha Buzz is that it forces me to listen to bands I might not otherwise check out. Take Lesser Care, for example. If you look at the cover of their current album, Heel Turn, it looks like something a mumble rap artist would create. Seriously, Google it or look it up on Spotify. I would have never put this on (no disrespect to mumble rap artists). However, I did, because I wanted to describe it for the ticket sale. Holy hell, was I shocked when the album turned out to be kick-ass shoegaze! Not only did it go on repeat, causing me to message many people to get them to listen to it, but it’s also one of my most anticipated shows. Hopefully, it will be for you as well. This is at Reverb Lounge on Sunday night, and it could be one of the sleeper shows of the year.
Formerly known as Koo Koo Kangaroo and now simply Koo Koo, the Minneapolis comedy music duo returns to Omaha to “Get Your Body Movin’” at Reverb Lounge for a special 1 PM matinee show. While their performances are geared toward kids, adults love them as well. This event takes place at Reverb Lounge on Saturday.
St. Patrick’s Day is on Monday, but that means a lot of the partying will happen on Saturday (or both days). The way I put together this calendar might miss bars or eateries that only have live music once or twice a year, so there’s probably a lot of St. Patrick’s Day revelry not included here.
The 402 Band will be at Blue Sky Bar and Patio on Saturday for their day-long celebration. Ellis Island will perform at The Brazen Head on Saturday as part of their three-day celebration, and they’ll be back there on Monday. On Sunday, the Barry Boyce Band and Pipes and Drums will take the stage.
The Dubliner will wait until Monday to have music, featuring Daniel & The Deliverance, Peter Mooney, and The Woodnotes performing that day. Music starts at 8 AM! Daniel & The Deliverance will also have a St. Patrick’s Day performance at The Jewell on Capitol on Saturday evening. Additionally, Celtic Journey with the Omaha Symphony will take place at the Holland Center on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

There are a few tribute shows on Saturday night. You can celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s *Wish You Were Here* album with Floyd at Slowdown. Tributes to Linkin Park, Rammstein, and My Chemical Romance will take place at Waiting Room, featuring Hybrid Theory, Ausländer, and The Black Parade. Additionally, it’s “For Those About to Shamrock” at Bogies West with the AC/DC tribute band Shoot to Thrill.
