Playing With Fire Announces Lineup and New Location-Thursday Live Music Choices
Yesterday, Playing With Fire announced their 2024 lineup and a new location. The Playing With Fire series is celebrating its 20th year in 2024. The series hosts free concerts every year that bring in international talent to perform along with regional and area artists. Playing With Fire is focused on blues, blues rock music, and more, and this year the event will take places at the Performance Pavillion at Gene Leahy Mall.
This year there are three consecutive dates, which are July 11th, 12th, and 13th. This also looks to be one of, if not their biggest, lineups to date. The artists performing that weekend are King King from Scotland, popular American blues guitarist Walter Trout, Cardinal Black from Wales, Bywater Call from Canada, Blackburn Brothers from Canada, Aynsley Lister from England, Lachey Doley from Austrailia, Kris Lager Band, and Little Joe McCarthy & Big Trouble from right here in Nebraska. Usually some of the Blues Ed youth bands are also involved, and I have to assume that will be the case again this year.
For more information and the full schedule, you can visit Playing With Fire at their website here.
Tomorrow, legendary guitarist Leo Kottke will be at The Admiral. I will be busting out of the films I am attending at the Omaha Film Festival to get over to Reverb Lounge to see one of my favorite current songwriters, Katy Kirby. Kirby’s latest album, “Blue Raspberry,” is easily one of my favorite albums of 2024 so far. This is a do-not-miss show.
Here are the rest of the shows for Wednesday and Thursday. You can plan your weekend here and you can check out the March Live Music Preview here
