Petfest Lineup Announced-Jazz at Red Lion In Blackstone-Tuesday Night Events
Omaha’s DIY festival, Petfest, has announced its lineup for 2024. The event will take place in the parking lot behind Petshop in Benson on August 17th. In past years, the festival has had two stages, one in a garage and one outside, that rotate artists all day. This year's lineup is my favorite to date, with mostly bands from our area and a few from Chicago. Nebraska’s own Darren Keen will make a trip home from his current residence in Chicago to perform as Problems. That is always a blast. I cannot remember the last time I saw Dance Me Pregnant, so that will be cool. Current indie bands around Omaha, including Ebba Rose and The Dirts, will bring a youthful vibe to their stages, and Jeff in Leather, Ex-Lover, and Vempire will bring the darker side of things to Benson. I am especially excited to see Vempire and Ex-Lover, as I have never seen them before and really like what they are doing. I actually hope to see them live before August. A couple veteran artists who have performed at Petfest previously include McCarthy Trenching and Universe Contest. McCarthy Trenching had one of my favorite Petfest performances a couple years ago.

It looks like I need to start paying attention to the Red Lion Lounge in Blackstone. Kevin Lloyd is doing a weekly jazz residency there on Tuesdays that also invites other players up to perform. It also looks like they have live jazz every Wednesday with the Red Lion Quartet, and this Saturday they have live jazz for Second Saturday in Blackstone with TK Approved.
