Welcome to the final day of 2023 (I almost wrote 2024, so I guess I am ready). Here are the events I have found for this evening's revelry. There is probably a lot more out there, as on NYE, a lot of events can happen at event centers, wedding venues, and things like that. The only way for me to put together the weekly calendar is by going through around one hundred venues websites and pages that host music at least occasionally and compiling it. So unless someone points it out to me, some of the oddball once-a-year events don’t come across my radar.
There is a good selection of events to choose from tonight. I would consider the Brent Crampton and Angie Spence DJ sets at Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel in the “fancy new year” category. Those are separate tickets and experiences in separate rooms in different parts of the hotel. I would also put the Granary in the fancy category, as they have Hi-Fi Hangover, outdoor ball drop, fireworks, and multiple DJ’s in three venues with different experiences to purchase.
In the fun party category would be Fountains of Dane at Maloney's, playing all of your 90’s favorites. My peer group's New Years Eve go-to has always been Secret Weapon and they are at Waiting Room tonight. I overheard some people in line at The Damones show last night raving about how wild the Joystick show will be at Philly Sports Bar and Grill.
If you are looking for a DJ and dance experience at a reasonable price you have Sharkweek, Stefano Bellagio, Terry Ice and Money Marcs at 10Foward and at The Slowdown is Crabrangucci & Tyrone Storm + Coco
Looking for original music or touring acts? Normally, that would be a no, but tonight it is a yes. Country act Paul Cauthen (who usually plays large rooms like The Admiral) is doing an intimate (though it will be a wild party) show at Barnato tonight. Need some rock in the progressive vein? A lot of people are excited about Wyrmwood, New Agency, and Dr. Webb at B. Bar. The marquee hip-hop show tonight is Snake Lucci, B Positive, and more at Beach House Bar & Grill.
Have fun, be safe, and take care of your servers tonight. They rely on nights like tonight to get them through what can be a slow January and February.
