New Singles Streaming From Area Artists and Your Tuesday Live Music Options
Checking in on new releases from area musicians. There are new singles from a handful of artists that we have recently talked about that are continuing their creative cycles, which I hope leads to full albums eventually.
First up is the new song, “Old Friend” from the recently revived Bazile Mills project. This follows “The Bus,” which came out in January. “Old Friend” was written by Dave Mainelli and features Jessica Errett on lead vocals, with Laura Weskirchen backing her on vocals. The song is a stunner, with dreamy vocals and harmonies accompanied by acoustic guitar, strings, and more. You can hear it on streaming services. Here is a link to Spotify.
Area synth wave duo Vempire released a double single a couple weeks ago for “Shake” and "Blattodea." “Shake” is an infectious tune with some old-school rave elements to it. The single has five remixes of the song, and all are good, but my favorite is the Downtown Sasquatch Mix, which has a lot of the synth sounds that I am a fan of. It really gives it more of a dreamy feel. “Blattodea” is a more mid-tempo affair, with lyrics taking the forefront. This track also has multiple remixes, and I like the “Toilet Rats Twin Peak Mix” that has a John Hughes movie soundtrack vibe. Here is a link to the Spotify streaming
Popularity Contest has released their second single, “I Know We Got This." Popularity Contest is DJ Surreal The MC, Mike Fantastik, Modest K, and Strawstone. The song has a positive vibe with a laid-back flow and a head bobbing beat. Add this one to your “It Was A Good Day” mix. The group will be performing with Twiztid this Sunday at The Waiting Room. Here is a link to the YouTube video.
Tonight, you have Birdie Edge and Jim Schroeder at Pageturners and The Crabby Blues Band at Shucks on Pacific. The Crabby Blues Band show is the monthly charity fundraiser where a portion of sales goes to a charity they choose each month.
We will be back tomorrow and combine the Wednesday and Thursday live music listings, and there is a lot to talk about. You can check out the entire week's live music calendar here.
