Tuesday and Wednesday Night Live Music Lineup
Happy Wednesday! Hope you are staying warm. There are plenty of reasons to make the effort to get safely from point A to point B below. If you want to check into this weekends shows where arriving places will be much more pleasant, you can do that with the weekly calendar HERE. If you need some new music you can check out the album list, my curated playlists and my thoughts on some of those albums HERE. Did you see what went on sale last week? You can HERE. Look for the music winners from the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards. You will find those HERE.
You can subscribe to Omaha Buzz below, it is free, but if you are finding value in what I am doing, I do appreciate those that are able to flip to paid subscription. I thank you for supporting this.
The Michigan Rattlers, from well, Michigan are just getting started on a three month trek and they should still be pretty fresh when on stage at Slowdown Tuesday evening. The band released their new album Waving From A Sea last fall. They have a nice sound that would appeal to a wide group of listeners. I could see Americana and folk fans digging this, fans of bands like War On Drugs, and even jam band fans. Check them out. Young indie folk singer-songwriter Elias Hix opens up the show. The South Carolina musician has a voice and some songs that have me thinking this will not be the only time we see him come through town. He will appeal to many of you.
Sierra Marin does reggae, hip-hop and folk and does it all at the same time. The singer-songwriter, producer and healer from San Diego will be at Bodega’s Alley on Tuesday night with Valley Creatures and Cruz Salazar. It looks like her tour is coming from Hawaii to Arizona to here. That will be a shock to the system.
We don’t get a lot of 80’s acts that I like come through Omaha, but the last couple of years things have picked up a bit. I saw Howard Jones twenty plus years ago open for Culture Club and The Human League, so I am looking forward to a full set from him. I saw Martin Fry and ABC last year in California, and I think he looks and sounds better than ever. He was suave AF up there and crooned out those hits like it was 1985 still. I am also excited that the legend Richard Blade will be hosting. He is known for his stint as a California KROQ DJ in the 80’s and 90’s and the current main man on Sirius XM 1st Wave station. He introduced young me to so much of the music that I love through his Flashback Favorites CD series. Blade got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this year. Very excited for this show. I have been following the tour online and it looks well received and the set lists are spot on. This show happens Wednesday at Steelhouse Omaha.
Fleshwater from Boston Massachusetts is a mix of shoe-gaze, hard rock and grunge music. They do not even have all that much music out, a debut album in 2022 and an EP and assorted songs. They have resonated with people as the show tonight at Slowdown is SOLD OUT. They will be playing with Your Own Knife and Western Haikus from here in our area.
The Dirty Nil from Hamilton, Canada, won a Juno Award in 2017 for breakthrough group and since then they have released three more albums including their latest 2023’s Free Rein To Passions. There have been a couple new songs creeping out this year including “I Hate The Internet” and “True Devotion”. The band will appeal to alt rock fans and pop punk fans both. You can check them out at Reverb Lounge on Wednesday.
Rapper Rittz will be at Bourbon Theater on Wednesday evening. He has multiple top ten hip-hop songs and albums-with many of them on Strange Music.
