Industrial metal band Fear Factory will be at Barnato Saturday evening. The band has been going since the early 1990's, with some starts and stops. This current run includes original guitarist Dino Cazares, and they are working on a new album with new vocalist Milo Silvestro, whom they found after auditioning 300 potential singers. The new lineup also features Pete Webber from Denver thrash metal band Havok.
Listening to Breeding Brainbow this morning from Wichita (there have been a surprising amount of bands out of Wichita lately), and I am really digging it. No album, but a handful of singles that go from well-crafted indie-power pop to more DIY punk. They sound like they could be fun on stage, and they will be on the Sydney’s stage tonight with Uh Oh! and Bad Self Portraits.
Lincoln band Once A Pawn are playing their only show of 2024 tonight at Duffy’s Tavern. The band is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their EP, The New Nude. They just digitally remastered it, and it can be heard on streaming and their Bandcamp page. Rounding out the bill Saturday night is Machete Archive and Her Flyaway Manner.
Omaha guitarist Zach Adkins has been getting a lot of attention on his YouTube page lately. His page features his guitar playing (he owns Adkins Guitar and Music Lessons) and also his opinions on music topics and his experiences. A recent critique of band meet and greets really took off and struck a chord with many. I am guessing you will be able to say hi easily to Zach Saturday night as he and his band take the stage at the Waiting Room. Fallen Reign and Tombstone are also on the lineup.
Popular alt rock band Set It Off will be at The Admiral on Sunday evening. The band just released a new song called “Creating Monsters”. From Ashes To New and New Years Day are also on the lineup.
Other happenings this weekend include Nick Schnebelen and Kris Lager bringing their Kansas City/Omaha King of the Blues to the Granary Green in Ralston on Sunday. The Bishops will do the last Saturday ska thing at Bob & Willies Wonderbowl. Sublime tribute band 40 0z. To Freedom at are Waiting Room on Sunday and The Red Elvises once again become “your favorite band” at The Zoo Bar on Sunday.
