Thank you to all of the new people that have jumped on board as free subscribers. If you find value in Omaha Buzz, please consider flipping over and supporting with a paid subscription. We do not do anything extra for that, as I want to keep all the content available to everyone, but it does help keep this ad and sponsor free. Thank you!
Omaha’s Mono In Stereo make music with tasteful hooks that, to me, sounds like it is influenced by both 60’s Brit rock and 80’s college music from Minneapolis, among others. The band will be at B. Bar this evening along with Matt Whipkey and Mike Friedman. It has been a while since I (and I think anyone) has seen Whipkey on stage, so it will be a treat to see him and his bandmate from the days of The Movies out playing together. This should be a great night of rock music.
Chuck Briseno comes from the “storytelling capitol” of Texas, the small town of George West. That is a good baseline for becoming a country artist. Briseno is a road warrior headlining shows all over the country and also opening for the likes of Turnpike Troubadours, Muscadine Bloodline, Wade Bowen and more. He will be at Bucks Bar and Grill on Friday and Tanks Country on Saturday. Then it looks like he has a residency in Key West, Florida. That will be a shock to the system.
Tonight at the Waiting Room Lounge, around a dozen artists from the area hip-hop scene will be on stage for this year's Loud showcase. Dread & Strange and Jay Influential top this one, but grab a hot dog early from Decent Dogs and either see or find some new favorites from the extensive lineup.
Celebrate the music of The Queen of Rock and Roll as the Omaha Symphony and various vocalists go from “Proud Mary” to “What’s Love Got to Do With It” on the Holland Performing Arts Center stage. There will be one show tonight and one tomorrow night at The Holland Performing Arts Center.
Other happenings tonight include Frankie Chiaro, BB Sledge, and Daybreak Escape at The Bourbon Theater. Touring cover band Not Quite Brothers are at Slowdown tonight, and Omaha cover band The Fisheads are at Bushwackers. Hard rock band Altura returns to the stage at Reverb, and The Zoo Bar has two separate shows that you could easily turn into one long night with Church of the Blues and Daniel and The Deliverance. Randall Gruber and friends are going to jam late into the night at Brokedown Palace, and Jocelyn will take up residence at The Jewell on Capitol tonight. There are about 30 shows tonight, so check them out below. See you out and about!
