45 Live Music Options for Friday Night
Tonight is the annual Omaha Memorial Park event. The blankets have been laid out, the stage has been built, and now the fingers are crossed for the weather. If everything goes as planned, then Roger Daltrey of The Who will take the stage tonight and perform songs from that band, his solo catalog, and some other classic songs. My interest, and why I am heading to the park, is the opening act Inhaler. Inhaler is a straight ahead pop rock band, and I quite enjoy their hooky and driven songs. The front-person for the band is Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q Hewson, otherwise known as Bono from U2’s kid.
If sitting in the sticky heat among tens of thousands of people is not your thing, there are many more options. In Lincoln at 1867, you can rock out with Green Jelly to “Three Little Pigs” and all of the onstage shenanigans that go on with those shows. There is a lot. Yacht rock band Yachtley Crue will be at Steelhouse Omaha this evening. Opening that show is Raynes, a British-American pop rock band. If you need more cover songs after that show, you can head to Slowdown, where South Dakota cover band Leila's Rose will be performing. Power metal and progressive rock band Fallen Reign are at Reverb Lounge with Cupholder and Dead Man’s Band.
This weekend is also Face Melters BBQ at Shakedown Street. It sounds like there will be two days of music inside and smoked meats to be purchased in the parking lot of Shakedown Street Tavern in Benson. The artists and bands on Friday are Ebba Rose, Doom Lagoon and Head Change. Saturday will see Jhibeejii, String Ween, Underbite, Altura, Swift and Doom Lagoon.
