Daughter Of Country Royalty at Bucks Tonight, Night Two of Lincoln Calling, Dave's Birthday Bash with Many Band Reunions
Last night at Lincoln Calling, Presley Tucker took the stage to play with Omaha country band Clarence Tilton. Clarence Tilton and Tucker had only met that day, but had quite a bit of chemistry on stage. Tucker, who is the firstborn daughter of Grammy Award winning Country Hall of Fame legend Tanya Tucker, performed a few songs with the band, including a spot on version of her mother's hit “Delta Dawn." Tucker stated that she helped her mother the night before with the grand opening of her pop up bar in Nashville, Tanya Tucker’s Tequila Cantina, and was on a flight early that morning to Nebraska. Clarence Tilton will be performing tonight at Buck’s Bar and Grill in Venice, and Tucker will be joining them again. Clarence Tilton is one of those bands that I think would be cool to see at Buck's, and if I wasn’t in the middle of this festival right now, that is where I would be this evening.
It is night two of Lincoln Calling. Last night was a blast, with highlights for me being Omaha’s The Dirts and Ex-Lover, along with touring acts Cherry Glazerr and Tkay Maidza and the already mentioned Clarence Tilton set. My old man early to bed and early to rise, kicked in, and I missed David Nance, Plack Blague, Problems, Crabrangucci, and Universe Contest during the late night, early morning portion of the festival, and I am sure those were some incredible sets also.
Tonight has the most of my must see acts for Lincoln Calling. The main act I came down to see is tonight, and that is McKinley Dixon. The rapper's album "Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?" was one of my favorites of last year, and his set opening up for Tank and the Bangas at the Waiting Room was also a favorite. Chicago duo Friko has been a favorite of a lot of the staff at the store I work at, and I am curious to see them live. The indie act’s current album "Where we’ve been, Where we go from here" is getting great reviews and will be on many end-of-year lists. Nashville’s Snooper will be a wild set. The punk-ish band’s album “Super Snooper” is one I put on when I need a jolt of energy. Other touring acts are on the lineup tonight, including Kaelin Ellis, Cory Henry, and Water From Your Eyes. The late night portion is also stacked with the third show of the Ritual Device reunion, Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal, Jeff in Leather, and more. I turn 51 at midnight tonight, so I might try to make myself feel less old and stay out late for some of this. We will see.
Speaking of birthdays, Omaha musician Dave Backhaus turns 50 tonight, and he is getting many of his bands he performed in back together to perform music at Reverb Lounge. That means you will see Old Boy Network, Mandown, Prospect Avenue, Secret Weapon, Jump the Tiger, Lonely Estates, and The Content all on stage tonight. It should be an absolute blast.
Here is the rest of tonight’s shows. Sunday is actually the busiest night of the week this week for touring acts and you can check out that lineup HERE.
