Christmas Eve Shows, Christmas Night Show and Live Music On Boxing Day
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Live Music Options
Happy Holidays! I am going to throw out some shows that are happening tonight, tomorrow and Thursday all on one post this week as the next two days are understandably light. My Thursday morning at retail for boxing day won’t allow me time to write up Thursday, so let’s get it all out there now. I will have a ticket on sale list out on Thursday though, as there is actually a chunk of them coming out this week. Then we will start getting back into some normalcy with a pretty big weekend, the January preview, a New Years eve guide and more. Give Omaha Buzz a subscribe and get it all delivered to you and not rely on the algorithm. If you are able to flip to a paid support subscription I very much appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you to those who have been referring people also!
If you would like to contribute to Omaha Buzz and not subscribe, you can do so at Venmo @Marcus-Manner or HERE. Thank you!

So, I am not finding a ton of information on Mike Pale, but I have watched some YouTube videos this morning. He is a singer and a guitar player from Telluride, Colorado. He has original tunes and does a wide array of cover songs from everyone from John Coltrane and Grant Green to the Grateful Dead, Neil Young, and New Grass Revival. He will be doing a Christmas Eve show at Shakedown Street in Benson.
Other happenings on Christmas Eve include a noon show with the trio of musicians known as Ellis Island at Brazen Head. Will they serve up Irish music? Christmas music? Both? The weekly jazz gig at Red Lion Lounge with Kevin Lloyd has a listing for today that is still live. So that looks to be happening. That sounds like a perfect spot and atmosphere for some pre-Christmas libations.
If you want music on Christmas night, you will have to head to the cozy Zoo Bar in Lincoln. Shawn Holt will take the stage for his annual Christmas show. Holt is the son of the late great bluesman Magic Slim and plays shows around the country under the name Shawn Holt and the Teardrops. The Teardrops being the name of his father's band. He released a solo album in 2013 entitled Daddy Told Me.
We are back at the Zoo Bar on Thursday evening with blues guitarist and vocalist Jarekus Singleton from Mississippi. Singleton has released four albums including Refuse To Lose on Alligator Records in 2014. He has a modern blues sound that infuses a lot of funk and soul into the mix. He will also be performing Friday night at North Omaha Music and Arts.
Darren Keen will bring his project Problems back home to Nebraska on Thursday for a FREE show at O’Leavers. Keen, who is now based in Chicago, is just getting back from a European tour, and released the album Enter The Annals this year. He will be joined by noise project The Trauma Center and the comedy of Joslyne Debonis. I was just playing The Trauma Center and pulled up a Joslyne Debonis clip on Instagram and they both played over each other. I think a collaboration could work.
If you want to completely deconstruct from the Christmas season, then the show on Thursday at Reverb Lounge should be able to eliminate any lingering vibes. Get a little weird with rock band Flux Amuck, who take inspiration from bands like Mr. Bungle and Primus, experimental goth group ZUNEG and the doom choir and punk band Las Cruxes.
