The best way to support Omaha Buzz is to flip the free subscription to the paid option. This does not get you anything extra; it just helps me keep this going and offsets the time involved. It is $30 a year or $5 a month. If you do not want to subscribe and get emails and are one of the people that just pop onto the website (and half of you are), you can also support with one of the options below. Thank you, I appreciate it.
Other ways to support if you do not want to subscribe or want to support further. Thank you!
Flesh Tape from Fort Collins, Colorado will be at O’Leavers tonight. The band have a classic indie rock and shoegaze sound, which they say is inspired by The Lilys and Sonic Youth. They released what looks to be their debut album last year, and have been releasing new songs this past month.
They will be playing with Dream Ghoul from here in the area. Dream Ghoul released the album A Forgotten Future this past December, and it is one of my favorite albums in recent years, local or otherwise.
I did an interview in The Reader this past February with Max Holmquist from Dream Ghoul. You can check that out HERE. This is a FREE show.
Dreion is an Omaha singer-songwriter who attended Berklee College of Music. He was on The Voice and got all four judges to turn their chair. Dreion chose Snoop Dogg as his team leader.
Dreion is a survivor of foster care system and an activst for reform. He works with First Star Academy, Mixed Roots Foundation, and Earth, Wind, & Fire's Music Is Unity Foundation.
When I was listening to the latest Bootsy Collins album that came out last month I am looking at the massive list of guest performers on it and there was Dreion on the song “2Nite we Rise”! He will be at Music at Miller Park on Saturday for a FREE event.
Metalhead raver Sullivan King will bring an EDM spectacular to Steelhouse Omaha on Saturday. This is a rescheduled show from March. He will bring along Darkwood, RZRKT, AND BENDA. He just released the new single “Rewind” with Ray Volpe.
It has been a minute since I have seen the Hottman Sisters' name pop up. It looks like the area trio are back, and they just released a new EP called Human Form a few weeks back. This show at Slowdown on Saturday will celebrate that.
The Hottman Sisters are an indie pop group and not far off from other sister groups such as Haim and Joseph. Also on the lineup is the one and only Kethro.
Ten years ago, country artist Justin Moore won Best New Artist at the ACM’s and this year he released his ninth album, the Billboard Top Five Country charting This Is My Dirt. He will be at The Astro on Saturday with Joe Nichols who had a big run in the early part of this century.
Friday night was certainly about The Beatles, and one would think Billy McGuigan and the Family Band at Jewell on Capitol tomorrow night would have a Beatles slant as well. Billy and his brothers have a new podcast out, and the first episode is all about Abbey Road. They perform as Billy McGuigan's Rave On Productions—Yesterday and Today—a Beatles tribute experience, but Saturday’s show is a rare show focused on Billy’s original music.
This performance by Foreigner at Stir Cove won’t feel like the first time, but the newly inducted Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band—or the members representing the band—will be there on Sunday. Foreigner is currently working on Feels Like The First Time – The Foreigner Musical, and in the fall, they will reunite with original singer Lou Gramm for an acoustic show. There’s a lot for Foreigner fans to look forward to.
This sounds fun. No Coast Punk Rock will hold a flea market Saturday at The Drinkery. You can pick up some new vinyl, gear, clothing and more. There will also be music from Not Ben Shin, The Alliterates and Sexy Cash.
I wasn’t familiar with Mikaela Davis even though she has four albums out. She’s described as a harpist who blends indie rock and alt-country and has released music on both Rounder and Kill Rock Stars labels.
Sounds like my kind of thing—and after listening, I can confirm it is. She will be joine by Lily Seabird who I am familiar with. Her album Trash Moutain that came out earlier this year has been one of my most listened to.
They will both be at Reverb Lounge on Sunday.
