Make sure you are not missing out and give Omaha Buzz a subscribe. It is free to do so, there are no paywalls, everyone has access to all the information. I do rely on the support of paid subscriptions to keep this going. I have a goal of eight new paid subs a month, and I need 3 more for February. If you are finding value in Omaha Buzz as a music fan, promoter, artist, or venue—please consider flipping over on the subscription page.
Other ways to support if you do not want to subscribe or want to support further are below. Thank you!
Long-running indie singer-songwriter and Omaha fave Damien Jurado will return to Omaha for a show at Reverb Lounge on Tuesday. His tunes kind of lean into that thick-of-winter vibe. He will be playing his greatest hits, it says, which is, of course, tongue-in-cheek. He will be supported by St. Yuma from Seattle.
That Mexican OT, is a rapper from Texas, and he will be at Royal Grove on Wednesday. He has performed in Omaha a couple times in the past couple of years. He hit big with the track “Johnny Dang” with Paul Wall. Not going to lie, I have cruised around to that song a few times. He is much more than that song, though, and the 25 year old has already released around a half dozen albums.
Vitamin String Quartet has been putting out albums of popular music and tributes to artists for decades now. They have put out over 50 tribute albums, and you hear their music everywhere and probably are not aware. Every-time I am waiting for a flight at Eppley VSQ is playing. VSQ is getting even more popular as the project just put out their Taylor Swift album and, at Homer’s we sold out of it that morning and couldn’t get anymore as they sold out everywhere. In 2024 they came through town doing Taylor Swift and Bridgerton. This time they will do Bridgerton and Billie Eilish at Steelhouse Omaha on Thursday.
St. Patrick’s Day isn’t until the middle of March, but that’s not going to stop the Massachusetts band from celebrating all the way up to it with their St. Patrick’s Day tour. The band will be at The Admiral on Thursday with real-deal ska band The Aggrolites. Dropkick Murphy’s are going through a little bit of a revival lately, so grab tickets soon. This show is now SOLD OUT!
Country rockers Pecos & the Rooftops are coming from Lubbock, Texas to perform at Bourbon Theater on Thursday night. Put on “Last Night’s Lashes” and head on down. The band JUST released their new album From Me To You in January.
So, I do not know if “Dingus” means something else today, but when I was growing up, it was not something you wanted to be called. Dubstep artist Wooli has just released a rave anthem called “Dingus” with Subtronics and LEVEL Up that is pretty fun. Considering his previous song is “Wackman” and a tip to the video game Pac-Man, I am pretty sure he knows what “Dingus” is. Wooli will be at Steelhouse Omaha on Wednesday.
Ward Davis comes through Nebraska from time to time to play at Bucks Bar and Grill. The Arkansas country songwriter is a popular draw at the bar, and usually does a string of sold out shows there. He will be there with his band this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I think all shows were sold out, but they added a handful of tickets to Thursday and Friday as of yesterday. Saturday is SOLD OUT. Edit: All shows are now SOLD OUT. Ward just released a new album called Here I Am on the 13th of this month, so this should be a celebratory run of shows for sure.
Industrial metal band Psyclon Nine celebrated twenty five years as an entity last year. This year they will take their album I.N.R.I out for a 20th Anniversary celebration. They also released a new album last year called And Then Oblvion. You can check out the God’s Not Here tour at Reverb Lounge on Thursday.
Zoh Amba is a songwriter and musician from Kingsport, Tennessee with a formidable reputation as a saxophonist and ensemble leader. Amba's acclaimed recordings, compositions, and improvisations blend avant-garde, noise, and devotional hymns. Zoh will be at Live at the Low End at Bemis Center on Thursday. These shows are FREE, but they ask that you make a reservation on their website.
