Happy Thursday! Lots happening today and a little something in many different genres. I will be back this afternoon with another huge ticket on sale and concert announcement list. Then comes the weekend already. If you want to get a jump start on that you can do so HERE.
I was bummed when indie pop band Real Estate dropped off last year's Outlandia Festival. I have always been a fan of the band, but their 2024 album, Daniel, has become my favorite of theirs. One of the five most played albums in the record store last year. It’s just such an easy album to listen to over and over again. So I wanted to see them on that tour. We finally get to do just that as they will be at Waiting Room on tonight. Very much looking forward to this.
Paul Cauthen returns tonight for a show at The Admiral. He seems to like Nebraska as he has played there before, The Waiting Room, did a special New Year's show to ring in 2024 at Barnato, and opened for Hank Jr. at the Pinnacle Bank Arena last year. People keep coming out for this country artist that has built a loyal fan base here.
The 66-year-old tenor Andrea Bocelli has sold over 80 million albums, and he is celebrating thirty years of recorded music on this tour. Bocelli will be joined by the Omaha Symphony at CHI Health Center Omaha for this lead-up to Valentine's Day concert happening this evening. I didn’t realize there would be so much buzz about an Andrea Bocelli show, but people have been coming in looking for albums all week, and I was at Cascio’s last week, and there was a big poster of him offering a pre-show dinner. Fun.
Alt-pop band Wallows has been one of our biggest-selling bands the past five years at the record store. They released their latest album, Model, this past May and just released “Your New Favorite Song” a couple of weeks back (that is the name of the song). You can catch the band tonight at The Astro. The Astro has been putting out low ticket warnings on this, and they are a very popular band. Don’t wait until last minute.
Tonight is the start of Omaha Invades Lincoln. Three nights of Omaha music in Lincoln at The Zoo Bar prior to the upcoming Lincoln Invades event the following week. Dark wave, post-punk, folk, jam band, jazz, and more will be heard on the famous stage. Tonight will be Matt Cox & The Marauders, Ebba Rose, Paper Canaries and Secret Formula.
