Tuesday and Wednesday Live Music Lineup
How is it going? It was great to see many familiar faces at last night's Molchat Doma and Sextile show at Steelhouse Omaha. What a fun night. We have the Tuesday and Wednesday shows below along with a link to a new interview I did and an interesting news item. You can check out all of the shows this week HERE at the weekly calendar. Want to see what went on sale last week? You can do that HERE. Need some new music? I have last week's album list, my curated playlists, and my thoughts on a couple of albums HERE.

I started Omaha Buzz on the day that John Heaston of The Reader called me and told me he was shutting it down and looking for a buyer for health reasons. Heaston passed away last May. He arranged for Nebraska Public Media to take over the publication and it is up and running online HERE . El Perico is also up and running HERE. You should see things ramp up with the publication ongoing. I contributed my first interview to the relaunched The Reader yesterday and you can check it out HERE. I talked with Max Holmquist of the band Dream Ghoul.
The announcement of Somewhere Fest for Wichita, Kansas, caught my attention yesterday, as the flyer featured many familiar names from our area. It’s a very cool lineup with Flying Lotus, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, Suki Waterhouse, Die Spits, Lyrics Born, and more. It is very cool to see Marcey Yates, Uh Oh, Estrogen Projection, and Bad Self Portraits on there.
Nu metal is all the rage again. Teenagers are coming into the record store and eating this stuff up. So it seems like the right time to do these types of tours. Fun fact: It was my job to drive Josey Scott around for a while on a golf cart at Westfair when he was in Saliva. Most of the rock dudes around that time were real dbags. He was so nice. He even asked me what I thought of his music and was still nice to me after that. Hed P.E., Adema, Flaw, Till Hell, and Core round out the lineup. Quite a few names on this lineup that had a moment. This happens at The Royal Grove on Tuesday evening.
I was already planning on going to this show as I enjoy Americana songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson, but I didn’t know Kelsey Walden was also on the lineup. She is a favorite of mine, and we last saw her in 2024 at the Outlandia Festival. She played her set and then went and fished at the pond at Falcon Wood Park. Doesn’t get more country than that. This happens at Slowdown Wednesday night.
Kxllswxtch is a rapper and singer-songwriter from Orange County. He just released his fourth album, Bittersweet, last year. When I listen to his earlier music, it is more of an aggressive, glitchy, hard rock and hip-hop mix. Bittersweet has more of the modern dreamy emo SoundCloud singer-songwriter thing going on. Quite the contrast. His latest track, out a couple of weeks back with Sxmpra is very much more in that aggressive vein, though. Sxmpra is a rapper from New Zealand who will also be joining this lineup at the Waiting Room on Wednesday evening.
