Album Cycle 10-04
List of new albums for this week, my thoughts on some and the curated playlist
Here is this weeks album list and my thoughts on some. The two playlists are below. The last handful of songs on there are some of the instrumental, ambient and experimental stuff I liked, but might not be for everyone-so it is at the end.

cumgirl8 – [the] 8th cumming - easily the best album today is by the unfortunately named cumgirl8. The New York post-punk band and multi-media collective that call themselves a "sex-positive alien amoeba entity," have released an album of synth punk that that is a throwback to some the weird off the beaten path stuff from the past and keeping it urgent and current. It won’t be for everyone, but if you are into this kind of music, there is so much to dive into here.
Orla Gartland – Everybody Needs A Hero-This is the third album from the Irish indie-pop artist. She is a member of Fizz with Dodie and her last album Woman On The Internet got a lot of buzz. This is pretty mainstream, well produced indie pop music. It is growing on me with every listen, and there are some very strong songs on here.
Thee Sacred Souls – Got A Story to Tell
Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad – Jazz is Dead JID021-the latest in the long running an essential jazz music series. They work with living legends and dig deep into various locales, genres within the genre and more. I highly recommend going to the Jazz Is Dead website to read about the work you are listening to if you decide to dig into this, which you should.
All Feels – This Place Is a Message- debut album from Massachusetts indie rock artist. I really like it, it's not slick and just straightforward classic femme fronted indie rock. If you liked a lot of the unpolished indie rock of the 90’s you may dig this.
Caribou – Honey- Caribou’s 2020 album was a chiller and a stunner. This one has a lot of great sounds, nuances and moods, but it’s way more of a dance album. If you like EDM, but find a lot of it too be too much-Caribou might be for you.
Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 – Heavier Yet lies the Crownless Head- the youngest son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti. He took over leading Egypt 80 and this is their latest, which is a wonderful listen.
Rat Boy – Suburbia Calling-this feels a little novelty to me as it’s so on the nose taking from UK ska, punk and brit-pop of the past. But it’s not parody, and I guess just influenced by a lot of that. It’s fun.
Steve Kilbey – Bespoke Wheels and Winged Heels-New solo album from the front-man of The Church. I don’t think he is able to put out short albums anymore. This one clocks in at an hour and twenty minutes. Some good stuff on here though.
Thee Sacred Souls – Got A Story to Tell-Second album from the soul group that were a surprise success with the debut. This one is full of more classic soul that many loved on the first album.
